What Is The Difference Between a Good SEO and A Scam Artist? How Do You Become and Informed Buyer?

If you’ve researched SEO in any way, shape or form, then you will have come across and inevitable truth: it’s really, really difficult to find an SEO you can rely on. Some Companies like to outsource their SEO requirement abroad e.g. to India, some Companies prefer to look for someone local they can actually meet or speak to, and some Companies like to outsource their link building effort to a Company in the UK whose main focus is stockpiling clients with little due concern placed on acquiring results.

Take a Look Around Your Local Area: Meet With Someone:

Prior to even considering taking an SEO company on, make sure you meet with them – at the very least, you should have been referred onto them by someone who has met with them. When it comes to sourcing an SEO professional, you don’t need to spend thousands of pounds per month to secure results, particularly if you already have an established presence.

Do a few local searches e.g. “Norwich SEO” or “Manchester SEO”, and try to source some quality consultants who actually have the first clue about what they’re talking about and who talk about SEO in financial terms e.g. sales. Don’t be swayed by search engine rankings – there are millions of possible search terms an SEO Company could rank for, just because they don’t rank for the particular search term you enter doesn’t mean they “don’t rank”.

Don’t Get Tied Down To A Lengthy Contract and Avoid The Filler:

SEO Companies like to provide a lot of filler – you may have been sent a whole host of proposals which mention terms like sitemaps, canonicalization, robots.txt and so on, and a lot of it will probably sound like jargon to you – to be honest the vast majority of it is absolutely irrelevant for the average small business owner looking to make his way in search.

The main thing you need to be focussed on is link building; you outsource your SEO requirement, and all you need to be worried about, really, is the quality of links the SEO Company is building to your site and on your behalf.
